Raina was among the Indian legends who boycotted Pakistan in the recently concluded World Championship of Legends (WCL). The squad — featuring stalwarts like Shikhar Dhawan, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Raina, and Yusuf Pathan — took this stand in protest against the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of many innocent civilians.India refused to face Pakistan both in the group stage and the semifinals, leading to Pakistan’s direct entry into the final. There, they suffered a crushing 9-wicket defeat to South Africa. AB de Villiers stole the show with a blistering unbeaten 120 off just 60 balls, earning both Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament honours. After the match, Raina posted on X: “What a knock by AB de Villiers in the final, absolutely smashed it. Had we played, we would’ve crushed them too, but we chose our nation above everything else.”
