A leopard attack claimed the lives of an elderly couple in Maharashtra's Kolhapur district, on Saturday midnight. The victims, 75-year-old Nino Kank and 70-year-old Rukminibai Kank, were attacked near Kadvi Dam.

The couple lived in a thatched shed next to the dam, where they ran a goat-rearing business. While they were asleep, a leopard attacked them and dragged them from their home. The leopard reportedly mutilated both victims, pulling Nino Kank into the dam waters. Both died on the spot.

Villagers informed the authorities the following morning. A team from the Shahuwadi Forest Department and Shahuwadi Police Station, led by Forest Range Officer Ujwala Magdum and Police Inspector Vijay Gherde, visited the site and conducted a survey.

The bodies were later taken to Malkapur Rural Hospital for post-mortem.
