VARANASI: Sensation prevailed in the locality when the bodies of an elderly South Indian couple were found at Mansarovar Ghat in the Bhelupur police station area on Thursday night.
The police sent the bodies for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway.According to reports, the local residents noticed them lying on the ghat steps. They immediately informed the local police. Investigation revealed that they called their grandson, who called them back immediately.According to Bhelupur police, they were identified as V. Gangarao (65) and his wife V. Appa Amma (60) from Godavari, AP West, Andhra Pradesh. They were staying at a Telugu ashram, where a police team found a mobile phone. The grandson has been informed. Bhelupur SO Gopal Ji Kushwaha said that the exact cause of death will be clear after the post-mortem report.
