Elephants damage crops, enter grove on Tata Electronics campus in Krishnagiri district,

KRISHNAGIRI: Around 60 elephants entered some villages in Krishnagiri district and damaged crops in the early hours of Wednesday. After raiding crops such as ragi, corn, beans, cucumbers and tomatoes, the herd entered a grove on the campus of Tata Electronics at Udanapalli from where forest department personnel drove the elephants back into the Udedurgam forest.A forest department official said the elephants were part of a herd of more than 70 elephants that had been camping in the district for the last one month. "They left the Kuruparapalli area of the Udedurgam forest, split into two groups and entered villages like Kuruparapalli, Kothanapalli and Vannipuram. The elephants entered a grove on the Tata Electronics campus. On being informed, we reached the spot and drove the herd back into the Udedurgam forest.”
