Tesla CEO Elon Musk is known for his strict and solid work routine. But the SpaceX CEO also has a soft and loveable side. Musk’s ex-wife Talulah Riley revealed how he managed to express his love for her despite the ongoing pressures of running multiple companies.

Speaking to BBC in 2022 interview, Riley said that most couples often forget a Christmas gift, but Tesla CEO Elon Musk became a midnight odyssey through snow and subzero temperatures—barefoot.

In the 2022 BBC documentary The Elon Musk Show, Musk’s ex-wife Talulah Riley shared an interesting story about a Christmas night. Riley described how Musk was overwhelmed by the pressure of running Tesla, SpaceX and SolarCity and realised late on Christmas Eve in Boulder, Colorado, that he had forgotten to buy her a present.

Speaking to BBC, Riley revealed that it was a Christmas Eve in Boulder, Colorado, with “loads and loads of snow” outside. Musk was working hard at that time and was struggling for the survival of SpaceX and the launch of Tesla’s Model S. Along with these two ventures, Musk was also worried about SolarCity’s uncertain footing. Among all these, Musk suddenly realised that he had forgotten to buy a Christmas gift for Riley.

He went to his ex-wife has confessed, “It’s not that I don’t love you—I do really, really love you. It’s just that my brain is exploding.”On the other hand, Riley brushed it off, but Musk couldn’t simply let it go. In that cold and snowy winter night, wearing only a T-shirt and shorts, Musk just slipped outside barefoot into the blizzard. After two hours, Tesla CEO returned with a bouquet of flowers which he had dug out of the snow telling her simply, “I just wanted to show you how much I loved you.”The midnight gesture, though unconventional, became a symbol of Musk’s emotional intensity. Riley has often defended him against perceptions of being cold or detached. “He is the most emotional person I know,” she said. “He feels very, very deeply.”

After a legal battle of nearly two years, the court ruled that rescinding the pay package left the Tesla head "uncompensated for his time and efforts over a period of six years".
