Elon Musk reignited his feud with Donald Trump by proposing a new "America Party" on July 4th via a poll on X.

Elon Musk once again stirred his feud with US President Donald Trump as the tech billionaire posted a July 4th poll on X (formerly Twitter), asking users whether it’s time to break free from the United States’ two-party system and create a new “America Party."

“Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system," Elon Musk wrote.

The poll raised the question: “Should we create the America Party?" with two options for responders: Yes and No.

Elon Musk vs Donald Trump

The post comes amid Elon Musk’s escalating feud with Donald Trump, following the tech mogul’s sharp criticism of the administration’s controversial “Big, Beautiful Bill"- a sweeping 940-page spending and tax overhaul that includes major tax breaks for corporations and cuts to healthcare as well as food assistance programs.

Elon Musk, who earlier served as a senior advisor in Donald Trump’s administration and was a major donor to his 2024 campaign, has in recent weeks become one of the most outspoken critics of the bill. In early June, Elon Musk called the legislation a “disgusting abomination", prompting a public rift with Donald Trump. Although both appeared to dial back tensions later that month but as Senators debated amendments to the bill this week, Elon Musk reignited his attacks, accusing lawmakers of hypocrisy and betrayal.

“Lawmakers who campaigned on cutting spending but back this bill should hang their heads in shame!" he posted on X, adding, “And they will lose their primary next year- if it’s the last thing I do on this Earth."

Elon Musk went further, declaring that the US now resembles a “one-party country- the PORKY PIG PARTY!!" and called for the formation of a new political party that “actually cares about the people."

Donald Trump Fires Back: ‘Cut Elon’s Subsidies’

Donald Trump responded on his Truth Social platform, blasting Elon Musk’s criticism and accusing the billionaire of massive hypocrisy. He wrote, “Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far. Without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. No more rocket launches, satellites, or electric cars and our country would save a FORTUNE."

Donald Trump also suggested that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) should conduct a formal review of federal funding received by Elon Musk’s companies.
