Tesla
has released an app for its robotaxi service on the Apple App Store. This move will make this app available to all iPhone users. The company made this announcement on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating that users can now download the app to join the waitlist. The electric vehicle maker also said that an Android version of the app will be released in the coming days. The app's launch follows CEO Elon Musk's announcement of the robotaxi service in 2024. The service was first introduced in Austin in June and later rolled out in San Francisco in July. Musk hopes to have unsupervised, fully self-driving vehicles in most countries by the end of next year, though he notes that regulatory issues may limit this goal.

In a thread of X posts, Tesla wrote: “Robotaxi app now available to all. Download to join waitlist – expanding access soon. Android is coming in the future.” The post also includes the App Store link of the iOS version of the app.
According to a report by Business Insider, when the robotaxi app was downloaded and launched, users were first directed to the terms of service, which stated that rides are “being conducted autonomously” if no safety driver is present in the vehicle. The app then asked users to join a waitlist by creating a Tesla account. Business Insider noted that it took around three hours for its reporter to be moved off the waitlist and granted access to the service. The app itself has a straightforward layout, featuring two maps showing availability in Austin and San Francisco, along with a carousel highlighting the robotaxi’s features.A button at the bottom, labelled “Latest news on the service,” redirects users to Tesla Robotaxi’s official account on X.The app’s review terms read: “If your ride is taking place without a safety driver present in the driver's seat, it is being conducted autonomously.
