Harry Brook-led England will lock horns with Shai Hope’s West Indies in the third and last ODI at the Kennington Oval in London on Tuesday after having an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. After handing West Indies a 238-run loss in the first ODI, England, led by one of the finest knocks by Joe Root, where he scored 166 runs to chase down a stiff 309 with 3 wickets remaining.
Batting first, West Indies was powered to 308 by Keacy Carty’s century. He scored 103 off 105 in an innings dominated by English bowlers. Adil Rashid picked four while Saqib Mahmood got three wickets. In the pursuit of 309, England’s openers Jamie Smith and Ben Duckett both fell for a ‘no score’.

Jaydon Seales removed Smith for a four-ball duck in the first over before Duckett was dismissed by Matthew Forde in the following one. Jos Buttler, too, fell for a duck as England looked in deep trouble before Root and Brook stabilised. It was eventually Will Jacks’ counter-attacking 49 and Root’s marathon 166 off 139, which bailed out England and helped them seal the series.
