Enumeration of crop damage begins in Konaseema, Chintoor

The officials have begun the enumeration of crop damage, primarily banana and horticulture crops, to assess the loss due to the floods that hit the Godavari delta in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district.

Many Islands of Godavari River suffered loss of crops during the recent floods. However, no casualty had been reported.

According to the Godavari flood bulletin, the inflow of flood water was above 4 lakh cusecs at Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage at Dowleswaram. The inflow is expected to fall further in the next 24 hours.

In the Chintoor agency upstream Polavaram irrigation project, thousands of tribals are waiting to return to their villages. The flood water which entered the tribal villages remained stagnated, impeding the tribals to return to normalcy. The affected tribals are mostly living in temporary huts erected by them in the hilly areas.
