Panaji: The enumeration phase of the special intensive revision (SIR) starts on Tuesday when booth level officers (BLOs) will go from door to door distributing enumeration forms to those on the current electoral roll and get them filled.
Enumeration forms were printed for electors of all 40 constituencies and distributed to BLOs to be taken from house to house as fieldwork begins.BLOs are expected to distribute the enumeration forms over the next few days, explain to the people how to fill them and check their names and that of their parents in the 2002 SIR, and then collect the forms back. Once all the forms are collected, the draft roll will be published and the period for claims and objections will start.
Chief electoral officer Sanjay Goel said the 1950 toll-free helpline will be available 24x7 from Tuesday.
In addition, both districts have set up help desks to assist people during the SIR.“We appeal to the people to cooperate with the BLOs. If they can locate the details of their parents and their names in the 2002 SIR in advance, it will make it easier to inform the BLO to fill up the forms,” he said, adding that the aim is to get maximum forms — duly filled and signed — back.Anganwadi workers and women self-help groups, as well as various departments are being educated about the SIR to create more awareness.
