The efforts by the Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy towards the establishment of an Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Hospital in Nellore appear to be moving towards fruition.
The MP had formally called on Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mansukh L. Mandaviya at New Delhi a couple of times and submitted a representation to this effect. He also met the ESIC Director-General Ashok Kumar Singh to pursue the matter.
The Insurance Medical Services Authority in Vijayawada had actually planned to shift the proposed hospital to some other place, citing lack of available land in Nellore. It was then that the MP had proposed the facility to be set up in the 2.18 acres of land belonging to ESI dispensary in Nellore Rural constituency.
Based on his suggestion, a team of officials from Vijayawada visited Nellore sometime back to inspect the land for the proposed 100-bedded hospital.
Such a major medical infrastructure will certainly be a boon for the workers in the unorganised sector and their family members, Mr. Prabhakar Reddy told the media.
In his latest representation to Mr. Mandaviya, the Nellore MP even sought hastening the process of inviting tenders towards construction of residential quarters for the doctors and staff, for which an additional one acre of land has been secured.
