ESIC issues pension to mother of man who died while on duty

The disbursement order for the dependents benefit amounting to Rs 2,046 per month was presented to the mother of the deceased man on Thursday by ESIC manager A Jenova in the presence of the hotel proprietor Jay Bharath.

SALEM: A lifetime pension has been granted to the mother of an ESI-covered employee who passed away while on duty.If an employee (insured person) covered by the ESI scheme dies as a result of an employment-related injury or occupational disease, the dependents’ benefit will be disbursed monthly at a rate of 90% of the monthly wage by ESIC to the dependents of the deceased insured person.Sankar Venkatachalam, who was employed at Hotel Sri Annapoorana in Salem, died on August 1, 2024, due to a cardiac arrest while on duty.Following the directives of S Sivaramakrishnan, joint director (In-charge) of SRO Salem, the disbursement order for the dependents benefit amounting to Rs 2,046 per month was presented to the mother of the deceased man on Thursday by ESIC manager A Jenova in the presence of the hotel proprietor Jay Bharath.
