Whenever the developers will look in the past of the golden era of the Battlefield franchise, one thought will always disappoint them, and that is Battlefield 2042.
This game was a huge setback for the franchise from the very beginning of its launch - bugs and performance woes, missing core features like a single player mode and customization options, less emphasis on community suggestions - it was infested with a myriad of issues.Times have changed and the game was able to stand tall again beyond its tragic past but to a certain extent. Players started engaging with the game but they never treated it like a Battlefield title.
However, now it might be the perfect time to reconnect with the game once again as it has received a surprise update out of nowhere. In the new 9.2.0 update of Battlefield 2042, players will be able to play in the iconic Iwo Jima map, which was seen in BF1942, BF1943, and BF5. Not only that, two brand new weapons - the KFS2000 Assault Rifle and the Lynx Sniper Rifle have been added as well. Along with it, two new vehicles, the A10 Warthog and SU-25TM Frogfoot have been introduced too.The fun doesn’t end here. The developers have also made the premium Battle Pass in Battlefield 2042 absolutely free, starting from August 18 to October 7, 2025. That means DICE and EA really want the players to stick to Battlefield 2042 till the release of Battlefield 6, which is launching on October 10, 2025.
