Tere Naam will re-release in theatres on February 27
Be it the heartbreaking love story or Salman Khan’s much-talked-about hairstyle, Tere Naam continues to command a cult following. Starring Bhumika Chawla along with Salman in the lead and directed by the late Satish Kaushik, the tragic romance remains etched in popular memory, with its music emerging as one of the film’s most enduring pillars. Composed by
Himesh Reshammiya
, with two tracks by Sajid–Wajid, the soundtrack is steeped in longing, devotion and heartbreak, mirroring the film’s turbulent emotional arc.
From the soul-stirring title track to the haunting melancholy of Tumse Milna, the songs became defining anthems of unrequited love in the early 2000s.Talking about the film’s music Himesh said, “The music of Tere Naam was created with the intention of making something iconic and timeless. Not many know this that the music of the film was conceived first and then these songs had to be positioned in the film and not vice versa as the case is usually with film music.
The music of Tere Naam became so huge because it blended well with the central character of the movie which was the story of every lover in the country.
It’s not just another album for me. That’s the way I look at timeless music.”The actor-singer-composer added, “Every song came from a deeply spiritual place, shaped by the raw intensity of the film. The pain, the longing, the madness of love is evident in every note of the compositions. When one sees the film, one realises how these songs were just so right for this iconic movie. I am very grateful that the music of Tere Naam continues to live in people’s hearts even today, and it’s incredibly exciting to see the film returning to cinemas on February 27.
