Ex-TMC Student Leader Rajanya Haldar Alleges Nude Deepfake Shared By Party Members

The allegation by Rajanya Haldar came only ten days after she appeared on local TV and condemned the gang rape of Kolkata Law College student.

Rajanya Haldar, Trinamool Congress student leader, who was removed from the party earlier this year, has filed an official complaint with the Kolkata Police claiming that an AI-generated deepfake semi-nude was being circulated among the members of the party.

She shared about the incident on Facebook, also telling about the official police complaint filed by her. She stated that many people are blaming her for the same.

“Today (Saturday), I have lodged an official complaint with the police. A lot of people have blamed me, saying that the picture being circulated is mine and that I am doing this drama to cover up my sins now that the image has come out. Let the law take its course and prove what is right and what is wrong," read her post.

She added that not only was she aware of the circulation of her “morphed image", but she could also name those involved in the same.

“I am ready to name some of the suspects and names that have come to me in whispers also," read her complaint. She also appealed to the police to give a report on if or not the image was “morphed".

The accusations by Rajanya came 10 days after she appeared on a local TV show. During the show, she condemned the gang rape of the Kolkata Law College student and alleged misogynist attitudes towards women are prevalent among a considerable section of student leaders.

She asserted that she should have the freedom to speak out “against the dirt accumulated in her own party".

Why Was Rajanya Haldar Suspended From TMC?

Rajanya Haldar was suspended from the party in September 2024 shortly after Haldar uploaded the poster of the film ‘Agamani, Tilottomader Galpo’ (the tale of Tilottomas) with the tagline ‘In the backdrop of RG Kar incident.’
