The Telangana High Court, on Tuesday, instructed the State government to initiate steps on the representation of a journalist, Durgam Ravinder, over “different aspects” of administration of Hyderabad Public Schools at Begumpet and Ramanthapur.
A Bench of Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin passed this direction after hearing a PIL petition filed by the journalist raising different issues relating to administration of the two schools. The petitioner wanted the HC to call for records from the HPS management to know why hostels for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes were closed.
The petitioner also wanted to know the status of implementing reservations to SC, ST and Backward Classes during the admission of students and recruitment of employees. The journalist raised issues of management of funds accrued by way of fees collected from students, methods adopted in outsourcing contracts relating to sports, catering, teaching and security.
The Bench instructed the School Education Secretary to examine the representation given by the petitioner and take steps in accordance with law within three months.
