The Telangana High Court on Tuesday sought to know from the State government if all schools in the State had constituted the mandatory Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs).

A bench of Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin, hearing a PIL petition seeking a direction to the government to constitute the PTAs in all government, aided and private schools, instructed the government counsel to secure instructions in the matter. The petitioner, Uppu Mallikarjun Patil, contended that not constituting the PTAs amounted to violation of Section 30 of the Telangana State Education Act-1982 and G.O. Ms. 246 of Education issued in 1987.

The petitioner stated that the managements of many schools in the State had to constitute the PTAs. The bench instructed the Principal Secretary of School Education to present details in the matter, adjourning the hearing after six weeks.
