Kozhikode MP M.K. Raghavan has called upon private tourism entrepreneurs to explore the tourism potential of north Kerala to its limits so as to improve the economy of the State.

Inaugurating the business-to-business (B2B) meet held as part of the Malabar Tourism Meet (MTM) in Kozhikode on Saturday, he said that after Kashmir, Kerala had the maximum tourism potential, and that it was high time the State government joined hands with the Union government to come up with a comprehensive tourism project.

“Hundreds of foreigners visit our temple festivals. Thousands of foreigners, especially from West Asia come to Kerala for medical treatment. We should learn to use these opportunites,” Mr. Raghavan said.

With works on the runway expected to be completed in six months, the Calicut international airport will be back on track. Works on the national highway will be completed soon, and the Kozhikode railway station will be of international standards in a couple of years. There will no longer be any connectivity issue in Kozhikode, he added.

Malabar Tourism Council president Sajeer Padikkal presided over the event. The MTM 2025 excellence awards were presented to Abbas Pulimoottil, K. Mohan, and Yasir Arafath on the occasion. Around 200 stalls have been set up at Hotel Tiara, the venue for the B2B meet.

Later, Mayor Beena Philip inaugurated the valedictory ceremony. She presented the Life Time Achievement Award to C.P. Moosa.

Around 1,500 delegates from various parts of the country are attending the meet.
