Family alleges assault by toll plaza staff in Kannur

A family was allegedly assaulted by a security guard at the Kollassery toll gate on the Thalassery-Mahe bypass following a dispute on Sunday night. The alleged incident occurred when Abdul Aziz, a native of Chokli, and his family questioned the long queue at the toll booth.

It is learnt that Aziz honked his car horn, prompting a violent reaction from the toll plaza staff. The family alleged that the guard physically assaulted them without any provocation.

However, the toll plaza staff countered the claim, saying that Aziz became aggressive after being questioned for allegedly trying to avoid toll payment.

The Thalassery police have registered a case based on complaints filed by both parties. An investigation is on.
