Family Files FIR Against Hospital for Alleged Medical Negligence After Patient's Death

Dhanbad: The family members of one Geeta Devi (21) on Wednesday lodged an FIR against the owner of the Anvit Healthcare Hospital, after she died allegedly due to medical negligence.Accusing hospital owner Dr Ashish Kumar Sinha and his staff of negligence, the family members of the deceased alleged that no doctor attended to her in her critical condition.Brother of the deceased woman, Rohit Kumar Mahto claimed, “My sister was admitted to the hospital on October 26. Doctors informed the family that surgery was required for her delivery. She complained of difficulty in breathing after delivery.

But the attending doctor assured the family that she was fine and discharged her on November 3. However, she fell unconscious while being taken to her in-laws’ house. She was brought back to the hospital, but the staff told her relatives that the doctor was not available and advised them to shift her to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital.

There, the doctors declared her brought dead on November 4.”Officer in-charge of the Baghmara police station Ajit Kumar said, “Two cases have been registered by both the parties on November 5. The matter is being probed. We are awaiting the postmortem report.”Terming the allegations a conspiracy, Dr Sinha said, “The doctors provided proper care to the patient.”
