Fans of actor Jr. NTR on Sunday (August 17, 2025) staged a protest in front of Anantapur Urban MLA Daggupati Venkateswara Prasad’s office against his alleged derogatory remarks on the actor. The MLA tendered an apology to the fans following the protest, but maintained that he did not make any derogatory remarks on the actor.

According to reports, Jr. NTR fans association leader Dhanunjay Naidu had called the MLA over the phone to invite him for a special screening of Jr. NTR’s movie War 2. In the audio clip that went viral, the MLA was heard hurling abuses against Jr. NTR for the latter’s alleged disrespect towards TDP Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh. The MLA also said that the movie will be a major disaster.

As soon as the audio clip went viral on social media platforms, the fans of the actor staged a protest in front of the MLA’s office in the city and tore flexies. They demanded an unconditional apology from the MLA for his comments and claimed that Mr. Venkateswara Prasad won the elections only because Jr. NTR’s fans voted in favour of him.

The MLA released a video claiming that the audio clip circulating on social media platforms is fake and alleged that someone with vested interests was conspiring against him. “Some people have been hatching conspiracies against me for the past 16 months. I am a fan of the Nandamuri family and I like the movies of Nandamuri Balakrishna and NTR. Some people have created a video which is fake and bogus. I have already lodged a complaint with the Superintendent of Police and the police will take necessary action,” he said in the video.

The MLA further said though he had not done any wrong, he would still tender an apology to the fans of Jr. NTR as his name was involved in the controversy.
