Farm woman slips, falls into the Krishna, dies

A 40-year-old farm woman slipped and fell into the Krishna river course and died in Manjari village near Chikkodi in Belagavi district on Tuesday.

Sangeeta Shivaji Manjrekar had gone to the river to offer Naivedya after a puja at home. She accidentally slipped and fell into the river and died.

Other women and fishermen on the banks of the river rushed to help her but she could not be rescued.

The police and State Disaster Response Force personnel have launched a search for the body, Tahsildar Chidambar Kulkarni said.

A case is being registered.
