Farmer injured in a tiger attack

Pointing to escalating human-wildlife conflict around Bandipur, a farmer was attacked by a tiger in Kundakere village in Chamarajanagar district on Wednesday, but escaped with non-fatal injuries.

The injured was identified as Maliappa, who was tending to his cattle in the fields when the tiger pounced on him. But the farmer ducked in a display of quick reflex and escaped with injuries on his face. The local villagers have sought combing operations and criticised the Forest Department for delayed response to their grievances.
