Punjab Police on Tuesday rounded up several vehicles in an effort to identify the one involved in the fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of 114-year-old veteran marathon runner Fauja Singh.

Sources told News18 that the police have identified a number of vehicles that were travelling along the same stretch of highway at the time of the incident. These vehicles have been detained for detailed examination.

Police are currently verifying the movements and locations of each vehicle during the time of the crash to trace the offender, the sources added.The suspected driver remains at large, and the search is ongoing.

The Lekha village resident, famed as “India’s Turbaned Tornado," was struck on Monday afternoon while walking in his native Bias village in Jalandhar district. He sustained severe head injuries and later succumbed to them at a private hospital.
