NEW DELHI: From Monday, consumers looking to upgrade their homes will find appliances like air conditioners and dishwashers much lighter on the pocket. Leading brands have slashed prices by up to Rs 4,500 on ACs and Rs 8,000 on dishwashers, passing on the benefits of the GST Council’s recent decision to cut tax from 28% to 18%.The timing couldn’t be better. With Navratra kicking off the festive season this week, appliance makers expect a double-digit jump in sales as shoppers queue up for deals.Big cuts, bigger choicesTop players, including Voltas, Daikin, LG, Panasonic, Haier, and Godrej Appliances, have rolled out fresh price lists. Daikin’s popular 1.5-ton 5-star inverter split AC, earlier priced at Rs 73,800, now costs Rs 68,020. LG has trimmed its entry-level 1-ton inverter split AC to Rs 32,890, while Voltas has brought down its inverter window AC to Rs 43,290 from Rs 46,990.Godrej is offering the steepest cuts in the commercial category, reducing between Rs 8,550 and Rs 12,450 on cassette and tower ACs. Haier’s Gravity 1.6-ton inverter AC now retails at Rs 46,085, after a cut of nearly Rs 4,000.Dishwashers turn more affordableDishwasher makers, too, are eyeing a surge in demand as lower prices bring this urban luxury within reach of more households. BSH Home Appliances has reduced prices across models, with entry-level machines now starting at Rs 45,000, while its high-end dishwashers have dropped by Rs 8,000 to Rs 96,500. Voltas Beko has trimmed its entry model to Rs 23,390 from Rs 25,990.Festive buzz buildsSome companies had already begun taking pre-bookings at reduced prices, banking on pent-up demand. Dealers say early response has been “buoyant” and expect the price advantage to fuel buying sprees.
