Inter Milan staged a late comeback to beat Urawa Red Diamonds 2-1 and eliminate the Japanese side from the Club World Cup on Saturday. Ryoma Watanabe gave Urawa an early lead in Seattle, but Lautaro Martinez equalised in the 78th minute with an overhead kick, and Valentin Carboni, returning from a long injury absence, netted the stoppage-time winner. Inter now sit on four points in Group E, tied with River Plate, who played to a scrappy 0-0 draw with Monterrey in Pasadena. Despite dominating possession and taking 18 shots, River failed to break through Monterrey keeper Esteban Andrada, with both teams combining for 40 fouls and eight yellow cards. Monterrey remain in contention with two points and will face Urawa next, while Inter and River meet to decide the group. In Group F, Borussia Dortmund won a seven-goal thriller 4-3 over Mamelodi Sundowns in sweltering Cincinnati. Sundowns led early through Lucas Ribeiro, but Dortmund took control after a goalkeeper error gifted Felix Nmecha an equaliser.

Serhou Guirassy and Jobe Bellingham, scoring in his first start, extended the lead, and an own goal by Khuliso Mudau made it 4-1. Sundowns battled back with goals from Iqraam Rayners and Lebo Mothiba but fell short.

Dortmund now have four points alongside Fluminense, who overcame a 2-1 halftime deficit to beat Ulsan 4-2 in New Jersey, eliminating the Korean side. Jhon Arias opened the scoring before Ulsan responded with goals from Lee Jin-hyun and Um Won-sang. Nonato equalised in the 66th minute, with Juan Freytes and Keno sealing the win late on. With one round of group games remaining, qualification remains up for grabs.
