A gathering of film bodies organised by the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) held here on Monday stressed the need to step up unity among various organisations and settle their differences through dialogue and consensus.
KFCC organised the programme as part of Onam celebrations involving film bodies that included Kerala Film Producers’ Association, Film Employees’ Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), Kerala Film Distributors’ Association, Film Exhibitors’ United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK), Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes, Malayalam Cine Technicians’ Association, and Kerala Cine Exhibitors’ Association.
Filmmakers Sibi Malayil and B. Unnikrishnan, president and general secretary respectively of FEFKA, pointed out that the differences, if any, between various organisations could be resolved through mutual discussions. The unity of film bodies is crucial for the progress of the industry, they said.
Actor Dileep urged the representatives of the organisations not to speak in different voices through the media over an issue. Instead, they could discuss and resolve it from within, he said.
K. Vijayakumar, president of FEUOK, urged KFCC to raise issues faced by the industry before the government. He alleged that the Left Front government had failed to address problems faced by the industry.
