The Indian mixed compound team defeated Kazakhstan 156-153 in a one-sided semifinal, and are set to clash against hots Bangladesh in the summit clash.

India’s medal tally continued to rise at the Asian Archery Championships on Wednesday. The compound mixed team, featuring Abhishek Verma and Deepshikha, advanced to the final, while the recurve archers remained in contention for medals after moving to the bronze playoff.

The second-seeded Indian compound team defeated Kazakhstan 156-153 in a one-sided semifinal, securing another medal. They will face hosts Bangladesh, who upset South Korea 158-153, in the final. India aims for a second consecutive compound mixed team gold at the continental meet, following the success of Aditi Swami and Priyansh in the 2023 Bangkok edition.

India has secured five medals and remains in the running for seven more. In the recurve section, the mixed pair of Yashdeep Bhoge and Anshika Kumari defeated Bangladesh 5-1 to reach the semifinals but lost 0-6 to Chinese Taipei. They will now compete against Korea in the bronze-medal playoff.

Earlier, India ensured four medals by reaching the finals in both the compound men’s and women’s team events. The recurve men’s team has also advanced to the title round.

In individual events, India’s prospects are strong. Ankita Bhakat, Deepika Kumari, and Sangeeta have all reached the recurve women’s semifinals, guaranteeing at least one medal and keeping alive the hope for a clean sweep.

Among the men, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Rahul have advanced to the recurve semifinals from opposite halves. In the compound women’s section, Prithika Pradeep and Jyothi Surekha Vennam have also reached the semifinals, further boosting India’s medal count.
