A fire broke out at a vehicle showroom, opposite Lourde Forane church, at PMG in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, early on Saturday (June 7, 2025), causing considerable damage.

The cause of the fire is not clear. Further investigation will be needed, said Fire and Rescue Services sources.

The fire broke out at an electric and petrol two-wheeler showroom that also functioned as a service centre around 3.30 a.m. The Fire and Rescue Services received information around 3.50 a.m. and two fire trucks were deployed to contain it.

The two-storeyed showroom contained vehicles, spare parts, engine oil, lubricants, papers, and plastic across all floors. A gas stove and a LPG cylinder were also stored on the roof. The fire was the most intense on the second floor. However, there was no external access to that floor and it could be reached only internally.

The firemen moved about 30 to 40 vehicles to safety, besides many documents.

Around three vehicles in the showroom and possibly some in the service centre are believed to be damaged or destroyed.

In all, nine units from Chengalchoola, Chakka, Vizhinjam, Kazhakuttam, and Nedumangad were deployed to douse the fire.

A Fire and Rescue Services team led by District Fire Officer Suraj S. and Thiruvananthapuram Fire Station Officers Nithin Raj and K.M. Shaji led the efforts to contain the fire.
