Five individuals were arrested for the illegal sale and transportation of toddy by the State Task Force of the Telangana Excise and Prohibition department. The raids conducted in several parts of the city led to the seizure of 420 litres of toddy along with six two-wheelers and the booking of three separate cases.

In Nalla Cheruvu, Uppal, officials intercepted three men transporting 25 litres of toddy on motorcycles without valid licences. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ranga Srikanth, Lodi Anil, and Badiga Naveen.

In a separate operation in the Ghatkesar area, a man named Lodi Sandeep was arrested while ferrying 82 litres of toddy, which was subsequently seized. Another case led to the arrest of Lodi Mahender and Mada Ramesh, who were found in possession of 124 litres of toddy. All seized samples have been sent for forensic testing to determine if the toddy was adulterated.

Meanwhile, raids were also carried out on three toddy depots in the Saroornagar, Ramanthapur, and Uppal areas. Samples were collected from each location and forwarded to laboratories for analysis.

The enforcement comes in the wake of growing concerns over the sale of adulterated toddy in Hyderabad, which has recently led to hospitalisations and raised public safety alarms.
