Five people, including four transgender persons, have been booked for allegedly creating a ruckus at the Adugodi police station in southeast Bengaluru last week, the police said.
The suspects, residents of Ambedkar Nagar in Adugodi, allegedly caused a public nuisance during a birthday celebration and damaged several vehicles, following which, local residents alerted the police.
“Our Hoysala patrol vehicle reached the spot and brought them to the station. They began abusing our officers without any provocation,” an officer said, adding that the suspects refused to listen to anyone.
Another senior police officer stated that the suspects were drunk and had damaged multiple vehicles parked in the area. “When brought to the station, they confronted officers and hurled abusive language at them, which prompted us to register a case,” the officer said.
The Adugodi Police have booked the suspects under provisions of the BNS relating to public nuisance, wrongful restraint, and assault or use of criminal force to deter a public servant from performing official duties.
“All of them were issued notices, and undertakings have been taken from them stating they will not be involved in such incidents again,” the officer told The Hindu.
