ERODE: The Veerappanchatram police in Erode on Monday arrested five men on charges of selling ganja behind a private wedding hall in Kani Ravuthar Kulam area. The police seized two kilograms of ganja from them.
The arrested men have been identified as K Priyadarshan, 20, S Ravinder, 20, M Sudhakar, 25, K Rahim, 23, and P Jyotheeswaran, 21, of Kani Ravuthar Kulam area.District superintendent of police A Sujatha has received multiple complaints regarding the rampant sale of ganja, gutka and narcotic pills in Erode and its neighbouring regions. The SP mandated stringent measures against those involved in the sale of ganja and narcotic substances.On Monday, the Veerappanchathram police were tipped off about the sale of ganja behind a private wedding hall near the Kani Ravuthar Kulam area. A team led by Veerappanchathram sub-inspector of police Sabiullah arrived at the spot and interrogated five men present there. "During the investigation, we discovered that these five men were engaged in peddling ganja," the SI said. The five men were remanded in judicial custody.
