Five Injured In Knife Attack During Kannada Rajyotsava Celebrations In Belagavi

In a shocking incident, five people were injured after a group of miscreants stabbed them with knives and machetes during Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations in Karnataka’s Belagavi, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place near the Lakshmi Complex in Sadashiva Nagar when a group of miscreants emerged from the crowd during the procession and began indiscriminately stabbing people.

The assailants, reportedly carrying knives and other weapons, attacked five men before fleeing the scene. The incident happened under the jurisdiction of the APMC Police Station.

All five injured, identified as Gurunath Vakkund, Sachin Kamble, Lokesh Betageri, Mahesh, Vinayak, and Nazir Pathan, have been admitted to the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) hospital for treatment.

Authorities are investigating the incident and suspect that outsiders may have carried out the attack. City Police Commissioner Bhushan G Borase and senior officials visited BIMS Hospital following the attack. Police have launched an investigation to nab the miscreants and ascertain the motive.
