Five motorcyclists died in four separate accidents in Hassan district on Sunday.

Two people riding a bike died after they were hit by a car near Byadarahalli Gate on Hassan – Bengaluru highway (NH - 75), near Hirisave, in Channarayapatna taluk of Hassan district.

Shankare Gowda and Srinivasa Murthy of Huligere died on the spot after their bike was hit by a car. They were returning home after work in Turuvekere of Tumakuru district. Their friend Yogeesh, who was also returning by another bike, filed the complaint with the Hirisave police.

In another incident, Sushma of Chikka Boovanahalli of Hassan taluk, died after the bike she was riding pillion was hit by a car near Dandiganahalli in Channarayapatna taluk. She and her husband, Vishwanath, were returning to their native place after a visit to Channarayapatna when they met with the accident. Both suffered serious injuries in the incident. Sushma succumbed later at night. Sushma’s brother Sandeep has filed a complaint with the Channarayapatna Rural police.

Phalaksha of Heddurga in Alur taluk died after he was hit by an unknown vehicle near Kanadahalli in Alur taluk. Phalaksha, a percussionist, was returning home in his bike after taking part in a Ganesha procession at Harapura village. He was rushed to the government hospital in Alur, where he succumbed early morning on Monday. His wife Chandramma has filed a complaint with the Alur police.

Krishnappa of Gundashettihalli in Channarayapatna taluk died after the bike was hit by a two-wheeler near Bediganahalli Gate on NH-75 near Channarayapatna. He was returning home with his friend, Krishne Gowda, after attending a programme at Mallavanaghatta village. Both fell off the vehicle and suffered injuries. The local residents rushed them to the government hospital in Channarayapatna, where Krishnappa was declared dead. His daughter has filed a complaint with the Channarayapatna traffic police.
