US-Israel-Iran War: Five US Air Force refuelling aircraft were damaged in an Iranian missile strike on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, according to a Wall Street Journal report. The aircraft were hit on the ground during the attack in recent days.
According to two US officials, the aircraft affected were KC-135 Stratotanker refuelling planes belonging to the US Air Force. The officials said the tankers were damaged but not completely destroyed and are currently undergoing repairs. No one was killed in the strike, the WSJ report said.
However, when asked by WSJ, US Central Command declined to comment on the situation. The officials said the Iranian missile assault struck the base and impacted the aircraft while they were stationed there.
The incident brings the total number of US Air Force refuelling planes that have been damaged or destroyed recently to at least seven.
This comes after an incident on Thursday when two KC-135 refuelling planes from the US Air Force collided. One of the aircraft crashed, and the Pentagon confirmed on Friday that all six crew members on board were killed.
