Andhra Pradesh State Food Commission chairman Ch. Vijay Pratap Reddy on Thursday (August 7) asked officials to be committed to students’ welfare.
He was inspecting the implementation of midday meal scheme at Anganwadi centres and government schools in Pedana of Krishna district. Along with district officials, Mr. Vijay Pratap visited the Mandal Parishad Primary School in Pedana, Mandal Parsihad Higher Secondary School in Balliparru and other schools in surrounding towns.
The team inspected the kitchens and storerooms and tasted midday meal prepared for the students.
According to an official press release from the district administration, the students told Mr. Vijay Pratap that they were satisfied with the facilties and had no complaint. Later, he asked the officials to ensure that the menu prescribed by the government be followed.
Chicken should be provided thrice a week, eggs all days, snacks in the evenings, milk in the mornings and fruits at night, he said.
Krishna District Civil Supplies Officer G. Mohan Rao, principals and others accompanied the chairman during the inspections.
