Foreign registered car seized in Manipal; driver booked for rash driving on NH-169A

UDUPI: A foreign-registered car with tinted windows was seized in Manipal after police caught the driver recklessly speeding and endangering public safety on NH-169A. The incident took place on Monday when ASI Vivekananda B.

of Manipal Police Station, acting on specific information, noticed a sky-blue foreign car with Abhudabi registration near the Shivalli Post Office.

The vehicle, which had fully tinted windows, was being driven from Udupi towards Hiriyadka in a rash and negligent manner, zigzagging across NH-169A, ignoring traffic signals, and creating extremely loud noise. The reckless driving posed a serious risk to two-wheelers, other vehicles, and pedestrians.Suspecting that the car might be carrying illegal goods, ASI Vivekananda and his team pursued the vehicle and intercepted it near MIT Junction. The car was seized, and a case was registered at Manipal Police Station against the driver under Sections 281, 125, and 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as well as under IMV Rule 51 read with Section 177 and Rule 100(2) read with Section 177 of the IMV Act.
