Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs L. Murugan on Monday urged Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to constitute special teams across Tamil Nadu to undertake a review of Adi Dravidar welfare hostels on a war footing and to fix the issues identified.

In a statement, he alleged that hostels across the State lacked basic facilities, and students had been protesting over the issue.

Mr. Murugan also alleged that the DMK government was delaying the release the funds to Adi Dravidar welfare hostels and causing a lot of hardships to students. The State Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department does not fully use the funds the Centre allots to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and they are returned each year, he added.
