Former AIADMK MP V. Sathyabama stripped of party post

Former AIADMK MP V. Sathyabama, seen prominently alongside sidelined leader and former Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan in recent times, was on Sunday (September 7, 2025) relieved of her duties as the party’s Erode Mofussil West district unit secretary.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Sunday (September 7, 2025) issued a statement in this regard. Ms. Sathyabama accompanied Mr. Sengottaiyan, when he addressed a press conference last week in which he set a 10-day deadline for the party high command to take steps toward readmitting some leaders, who have been expelled by the party leadership led by Mr. Palaniswami.

Mr. Sengottaiyan had said Mr. Palaniswami could decide as to who should return, but leaders who held key responsibilities must be reinstated. “If this does not happen, like-minded leaders will unite and do it,” Mr. Sengottaiyan had said.

In another development, the AIADMK finalised the fifth phase of Mr. Palaniswami’s ‘Makkalai Kaappom, Thamizhagathai Meetpom’ campaign between September 17 and 26. During the fifth phase, Mr. Palaniswami would visit 19 Assembly constituencies in Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Karur, Namakkal and the Nilgiris districts.
