Former Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (APCID) chief and the then Director-General Fire Services Department N. Sanjay, who was facing charges of misappropriation of funds, surrendered before the ACB Special Court here on Tuesday (August 26).
The court gave judicial remand to the senior IPS officer for 15 days.
The Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E) conducted an inquiry in the alleged misuse of funds in Fire Services and CID Departments, when Mr. Sanjay was heading both the departments.
The ACB officials registered a case against Mr. Sanjay, a 1996 batch IPS officer, on charges of misusing of government money for developing an App in Fire Services Department.
It was also alleged that the IPS officer resorted to misappropriation of funds while organising awareness programmes on SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, by the CID Department.
The High Court granted anticipatory bail to Mr. Sanjay. However, the Supreme Court cancelled the anticipatory bail on July 31, 2025, and directed the officer to surrender before the concerned court. With the ACB Special Court granting judicial remand to the IPS officer on Tuesday, police shifted him to Vijayawada jail.
