Former APSRTC (United A.P.) Chairman Gone Prakash Rao has predicted that YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is certain to face imprisonment in the liquor scam, apart from other pending cases.
Addressing the media here on Thursday (August 14, 2025), he urged the NDA government to conduct searches at Mr. Jagan’s Tadepalli residence, claiming gold and cash worth hundreds of crores could be found.
Dismissing Mr. Jagan’s remarks on the Pulivendula and Vontimitta ZPTC elections as “laughable,” Mr. Prakash Rao said the NDA alliance had won in Pulivendula and that YSRCP even lost its deposit. He ruled out any possibility of cancelling the election as Jagan’s camp suggested.
Accusing Mr. Jagan of fearing the CBI, he questioned why the former Chief Minister met jailed YSRCP leaders in the liquor scam but not the arrested officials. He predicted more arrests and insisted Mr. Jagan’s own was inevitable.
Criticising Mr. Jagan’s claim that democracy was “murdered” in the ZPTC polls, Mr. Prakash Rao pointed out that under the YSRCP rule, many local body elections were unanimous and uncontested. Pulivendula, he noted, saw its first contest in decades with 11 nominations this time.
He further claimed Mr. Jagan’s 2019 victory was due to the efforts of his mother, Y.S. Vijayamma, and sister, Y.S. Sharmila, whom he later “betrayed,” resulting in YSRCP’s sharp decline to just 11 seats in recent polls. Questioning Jagan’s rhetoric about Chandrababu Naidu’s “last election,” he reminded that in the past Mr. Jagan had made such remarks.
