‘Fortunate and thankful’: Riteish Deshmukh on his journey with popular franchises

Actor Riteish Deshmukh, fresh from the success of 'Housefull 5', is showing no signs of slowing down. Known for his impeccable comic timing and versatility, the 46-year-old is ready to return to the big screen with upcoming sequels of his hit films 'Masti' and 'Dhamaal'.

For Riteish, being part of blockbuster franchises is nothing short of a privilege.

“I think every actor should feel fortunate if they’re part of any franchise or if a film has gone into its second part. Here I am, currently working on four films. I feel extremely fortunate to be part of movies that audiences have appreciated so much that we’re able to make a part three and a part four,” he shares with Hindustan Times. Humble as ever, Riteish is quick to give credit where it’s due—“That’s all thanks to the audience.

”

When asked if he believes franchises have a shelf life, Riteish points to the natural pace of their production. “The fatigue factor lies with the audience. But in our case, these instalments are coming at long intervals—five years, sometimes even 10. It’s not like they’re releasing every month,” says the actor, who is also directing his second Marathi film, Raja Shivaji.
