The Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the philanthropic arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited, on Thursday distributed 1,000 domestic tailoring machines to women across 109 villages in Thittagudi in Cuddalore district.
Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development C.V Ganesan handed over the machines to beneficiaries and said the initiative was a commendable example of corporate social responsibility in action. By equipping women in rural Tamil Nadu with the means to earn a livelihood, HMIF is directly contributing to the socio-economic uplift of some of the most underserved sections of the society.
The initiative marks the third phase of HMIF’s regional development programme in Cuddalore district.
“By providing tailoring machines to women from vulnerable backgrounds, we are not just offering a tool for additional income generation — we are enabling a pathway to dignity, confidence, and long-term stability,” said C. S. Gopalakrishnan, trustee, HMIF.
S. Elangovan, Joint Director, Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health, Jeongick Lee, executive director – Corporate Affairs and Beom Ryeong Song - vertical advisor, Corporate Communication and Social, HMIL, participated.
