Foundation stone laid for Ethanol plant at IFFCO Kisan SEZ in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore

A significant Rs 260 crore ethanol plant, Gayatri Renewable Energy, has broken ground in Nellore, fulfilling a 30-year wait for local farmers

TIRUPATI: In a significant push for industrialisation in the Kovur constituency, the foundation stone was laid for the Gayatri Renewable Energy ethanol plant at the IFFCO Kisan SEZ in Regadichilaka village in Kodavaluru mandal of Nellore district on Sunday. This landmark project marks the culmination of a three-decade-long wait for farmers who had parted with their land for the SEZ project.Speaking to reporters after laying the foundation stone, Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy stated that the project, being established with an investment of Rs 260 crore, will provide direct employment to 200 people and create indirect employment for 700 more.“The facility is designed to consume roughly 1.5 lakh tonnes of grain annually, offering a substantial boost to the local agrarian economy and providing farmers with stable demand for their produce,” Vemireddy added.

Kovur TDP legislator and TTD board member Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy noted that the project aligns with the state’s goal of integrating agriculture with industrial growth, particularly through the production of ethanol, which is increasingly being blended with conventional fuels.Rajya Sabha MP Beeda Masthan Rao, TDP MLC Beeda Ravichandra and others took part in the event.
