Four arrested, 264 kgs of cannabis seized from them in Anakapalle district

Visakhapatnam: The Anakapalle district police seized 264 kgs of dry cannabis and arrested four persons when they were transporting the weed in two cars after a chase at Nakkapalle locality in the district.

The arrested persons have been identified as K Saiteja, a native of Hyderabad, Sachin, Ch Rajesh from Rolugunta and Somesh of Kerala.Based on the credible information about the ganja transportation, the police were conducting vehicular check-ups near Vempadu locality in Nakapalle mandal. Noticing the police teams at the locality, the smugglers in two cars tried to divert the vehicles. However, the police managed to nab them after a short chase.During the search, the police recovered 216 kgs of cannabis from one car and 48 kgs of dry cannabis from another car and all the four accused were arrested.The investigation has revealed Malasala Mohan, a native of Rolugunta was the mastermind behind the illegal ganja trade. Salim, a native of Mangalore and Shah Jahan, a native of Kerala transferred money to Mohan for ganja. The police said the investigation is on to nab a few others in connection with the case.
