Four arrested for assaulting student

The Wilson Garden police on Thursday arrested four persons for allegedly assaulting a 20-year-old college student with lethal weapons over a trivial row.

The accused have been identified as Mohammed Fardeen, 24; Mohammed Afaan, 26; Mohammed Rayan, 21; and Sameer M., 24. The victim has been identified as Babur Rayan.

According to the police, the accused had gotten into an argument with the victim’s Afridi over talking to a girl, who is also a student in their college on Lalbagh Road.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when the accused, armed with lethal weapons, attacked Afridi and Rayan. Afridi managed to escape, and the attackers, after making a futile attempt to catch him, returned to Rayan and allegedly assaulted him with a machete and knives.

Injured Rayan managed to escape and got treatment in a private hospital before approaching the police.
