MUMBAI: The LT Marg Police have cracked the Rs 50 lakh robbery near Crawford Market in south Mumbai and have arrested four persons who at gunpoint had robbed a businessman. Acting swiftly on specific information, officers from the Crime Branch and LT Marg police station apprehended the suspects and recovered the stolen cash, firearms, and incriminating items used in the heist.The robbery took place on Saturday, when the victim, a businessman dealing in precious metals, was intercepted near Crawford Market by two men who posed as law enforcement officers. They forcibly boarded his car, brandished weapons, and assaulted him before snatching a bag containing the money. The suspects then fled in a car with a false number plate. Based on CCTV footage, mobile tracking, and local informants, the police identified the accused as Javed Salim Lakhani (22), Sameer Damodar Jadhav (28), Sagar Damodar Jadhav, and Vikas Shankar Bane. All four were arrested in a coordinated operation and produced before the Esplanade Court.During interrogation, police recovered 10 country-made pistols, multiple live cartridges, Rs 28.16 lakh in cash, and clothing and accessories used to impersonate officials. The car used in the crime has also been seized.
