Four men booked for assaulting BMTC driver in a road rage incident

The Kumaraswamy Layout police have registered a case against a group of four men who allegedly assaulted a bus driver attached to the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) in a road rage incident at Kadarenahalli Cross on Thursday.

The driver, Hucchirappa, was heading towads Kadarenahalli Cross when four men on two motorcycles came from the opposite side in a wrong way and shouted at the driver. When Hucchirappa reacted to this, the four men got on to the bus, hurled abuses at him, dragged him out, and assaulted him.

The bus conductor Prakash alerted the control room, following which the accused fled the scene.

Abdul Ahad, Director, Vigilance, BMTC, went to the spot and admitted the driver to the hospital, before filing a case against the four men.

BMTC Managing Director took cognisance of the incident and asked the officials to chalk out strategies to ensure necessary protection to the BMTC staff to prevent such incidents in future.

The police have launched a probe to identify the accused.

In a similar incident, the Banasawadi police have launched a search for a motorcyclist, who was armed with a knife, created ruckus on the busy road near Lingarajapuram flyover on Thursday.

The accused was riding the two-wheeler and had an argument with an autorickshaw driver. The accused reportedly stopped the bike, pulled out a knife, and tried to attack the autorickshaw driver.

Even though the driver escaped narrowly, the accused damaged the vehicle. A passer-by recorded the incident on his mobile phone which went viral on social media.
