The accused in police custody on Wednesday
Hazaribag: The police on Tuesday night arrested four men while they were on their way to carry out a robbery attempt in Barhi. Several firearms were seized from the possession as the men confessed to being involved in various criminal incidents in the past, SP Anjani Anjan said on Wednesday.
According to the police, on the night of October 14, a tip-off was received that four persons, riding two motorcycles, were heading from Hazaribag towards Barhi to carry out a robbery. Subsequently, a checkpoint was set up near Devchanda Mor.Around 10:10 pm, two suspicious motorcycles approached the spot. When signalled to stop, the riders attempted to flee, but the police team chased and managed to apprehend all four.The arrested criminals have been identified as Santosh Munda (25), Deenanath Bedia alias Dinesh Bedia (34), Rahul Thakur (27), and Tuleshwar Prajapati (31). From them, police recovered a country-made pistol, a country-made gun, four live cartridges, three mobile phones, and two motorcycles.The entire operation was carried out under the leadership of Barhi sub-divisional police officer Ajit Kumar Vimal. The team included Barhi police station OC Binod Kumar, sub-inspectors Deepak Kumar and Rupalal Yadav, havildars Manoj Mandal and Mithlesh Singh, constables Ganga Oraon and Sanjeet Kumar Yadav, along with personnel from the Barhi police and the Hazaribag technical branch.
Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan congratulated the team for the successful operation, praising their prompt action and coordination. He said that such decisive efforts against criminals will continue to ensure law and order across the district.
