Panaji: Four people were rescued from drowning along Goa’s coastline over the weekend as lifesavers responded to a series of incidents across popular beaches. The first incident was reported at the Arambol sweetwater lake, where a 27-year-old man from Gujarat, part of a group of eight, entered the lake and struggled after swimming out into waters nearly 2 metres deep.
Lifesaver Namdev Velnekar reached the spot with a rescue tube and assisted the man to the shore.At Baga beach, three members of a family, including two teenagers, were pulled into deep water after ignoring repeated warnings. The group was caught in a rip current and had to be rescued by lifesavers Saurav Kumar, Chandrashekhar, and Nand Kishor.At Candolim beach, a woman tourist from Sweden suffered a jellyfish sting while swimming and complained of stomach discomfort. She was given first aid on the beach and shifted to the Candolim primary health centre for further treatment.
